Prior to joining the firm, Partner Ben F. Smith served Cobb County as Solicitor General and later as the District Attorney. First elected to office in 1993, Ben served as the county’s top prosecutor until 1998. Ben brings a vast amount of criminal law experience with him each time he represents a client in court.

Partner John S. Morgan gained his trial experience as an Assistant Solicitor General in Cobb County. While serving as a prosecutor, John was asked to teach police officers various aspects of criminal law at the police academy. Specializing in DUI law, John has successfully handled thousands of DUI cases. John also serves as an Associate Judge in Marietta, Powder Springs, Woodstock, and as a Judge Pro Hac Vice in the State Court of Cobb County.

Partner Robert F. Schnatmeier, Jr. also has his roots in criminal prosecution. Rob has worked as an Assistant Solicitor General and as an Assistant District Attorney, trying all types of criminal cases. As an instructor at the police academy, Rob taught police recruits DUI investigative techniques as well as other criminal law and procedure. In addition, he was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Cobb County Bar Association Criminal Law Section. Rob has also taught criminal law and procedure at North Georgia Technical College for several years and served as a Judge Pro Hac Vice in the State Court of Cobb County.

As former prosecutors, we fully understand the criminal justice system and have earned the respect of judges and other lawyers. Because we have formerly worked on the prosecution side, we are better able to represent our clients due to our knowledge of how prosecutors evaluate and handle their case.
